Ric was a constant source of inspiration and encouragement, an endless fund of knowledge and a bloody great photographer. Ric you will always be in my heart. Here is a well-known image that Ric created in the mid-90s, who remembers this?? RIP my dear friend. ![]() Enjoy this months newsletter full of fabulous freelancers working on amazing projects. All of us are in our homes doing the best we can, and from what I hear and certainly in my experience, we are embracing this new way of life. Routine seems to be the keyword, along with exercise and lots of coffee breaks. Sit down with a cuppa and enjoy the talent. Sal Director of Analytics & Performance at Fenton Stephens“The one thing I can say with confidence is that everything is in a state of flux. We have had weeks where some clients have amazing results, and some weeks they have very poor results. Some clients are killing it in Facebook, some are killing it in Google, some in both, and some in none. This heightens the importance of a good performance marketing team and a data and analytics team.” Recent work from our CreativesFree COVID-19 Animation For Your BusinessAs an act of goodwill, Filmtime have created this animation as a free resource for the business community to use and send out to their own clients. 'Autumn Dawn' Fashion ProjectWhen the going gets tough, the tough get going and quickly squeeze in an exclusive project for Fashion Gone Rogue before #stayingathome. The second collaboration between creative director Sarah Carter, photographer Milos Mlynarik, stylist Andrew Hainsworth and hair and makeup artist Budi Juspandi entitled ‘Autumn Dawn’. The florals of Spring are now exhausted at the end of their life and serve as a tactile neutral base for the eternal monochrome trend now boasting voluminous and sculptural shapes for Winter. Creative Direction – Sarah Carter & Milos Mlynarik Crystal Cut – Under the Sun‘Under the Sun’ is the debut single of a new original act, Crystal Cut. It was written, recorded and produced at Big Ears Audio. The film clip was directed by Matt Wilson of Matt Wilson Films. Young visual animator Fynn Michlin-Stone added the animation. The music track was mastered in London at The Exchange. This project was an amazing example of artists helping artists; all the people who worked on it gave up their time to create something special. It’s out now on Spotify and iTunes. Watch the music video here. Written & Produced – Crystal Cut Gone FishingCurrently, my diary is a barren wasteland of empty pages. The only work I can shoot for any sort of monetary gain is editorial. Fortunately, I contribute to a couple of monthly fishing magazines and while this has always been something of a passion project for little financial reward, it has in last 2 weeks become something of a lifeline. We live right next to the ocean so even in our ‘lockdown’ situation, I can still grab a rod and a camera, take the kids out for a fish and enjoy the amazing environment on our doorstep. Creating the Latest Furphy CampaignMarcus Byrne at Thinkerbell designed and retouched the latest Furphy 'Unbelievable' campaign. The Furphy Refreshing Ale stills were beautifully shot by Tom Franks. Also, if you haven't seen the TV spot, check it out – it's beautiful. COVID-19 Charcoal PortraitsMy latest series of charcoal life drawing portraits have taken on a life of their own. Basing them on the COVID-19 phenomena that we are all experiencing at the moment, the torso only portraits are more than just a cheap shot at the upheaval of normal life as we know it. The reason for the chest to be shown? The virus is primarily a form of pneumonia and so the chest gets infected, the lungs in particular. I have had commissions ranging from corporates who want themselves caught in time, to an IT worker, a financial advisor, a nurse and other artists. With the other artists, we are often doing a barter system, which I find particularly interesting. It happens a lot. Subjects just email in a series of poses, all basically the same, relaxed and not looking at the camera – the idea is to display them perhaps sitting on a stool as if waiting for something, perhaps to get a diagnosis themselves? I am doing each portrait for a nominal fee, and I’m pretty quick with my work, so a portrait may take just a couple of hours – if that. Contact me for any enquiries you may have regarding getting one done for yourself. Your Images Printed On Metal and MoreSince introducing Metal Prints to Australia and specialising in the sublimation printing process for just on 11 years, the team at Print 2 Metal have recently decided to add a few more products to their mix in response to requests from photographers and artists. “Bigger prints, outdoor use, paper prints, installation projects ……are regular topics discussed with existing clients and those we’ve been unable to assist in the past,” tells Frank Hoekstra, head printer and the co-owner with Marie Cosgrave. A visit to Printex in Sydney last year made us aware of all the options available to our clients with the purchase of an Epson 80600 Eco Solvent printer. The Ultra Chrome inks used in this printer have the added advantages of being lightfast, waterproof and resistant to abrasion. This means that further protection with glass or laminating may not really be necessary. 3 stunning German fine art papers to offer, as well as adhesive vinyls, printable window films, canvas and laminating are just some of the new materials we can now print on. As our name suggests we’re continuing the emphasis on metal and now have mounting on to Dibond aluminium available. FREE Sample Packs with both Chromaluxe metal and the new medias offered are available by emailing info@print2metal.com and mentioning TBE.
